People have asked me why, at the age of 59, did I decide to start a second career of freelance writing. Basically, the answer is, so that my retirement doesn’t end up being dollar microwave meals and second-hand magazines.
A few years ago, I finally sat down and looked at my retirement reality. I saw that I was indeed one of those stupid baby boomers who had not saved for my “golden years” the way I should have.
So, I thought up Plan A and Plan B.
Plan A was: find a rich man to marry.
So I went with Plan B: get a second income.
Some of you know I have had some past home businesses that didn’t really work out. The latest one, internet research, was probably doable, but I discovered I enjoyed writing the reports a lot more than I thought I would.
Writing has always been my “goto dream” when asked what my life dream was. But circumstances got in the way, and it never happened.
Until now. I looked at some side businesses, (cause I sure ain’t gonna quit my day job!) and saw freelance writing mentioned over and over. Huh, I thought. I can write. I like to write. I can make money writing? WHY AM I NOT WRITING!
So I formed this final (I think) home-based business of doing freelance writing and internet research. Cause, ya know, I do love researching and it goes with the territory.
And that’s my story. What’s yours? Leave a comment. I don’t bite. Unless you …..oh you know how that goes.
It sounds perfect for you! I’m still looking for that second career that I love and will earn me enough to fill the gap.
Thanks Chris! Like they say, find what you love, and then find a way to make money from it. See you on FB.
